2023 Coaches
I am very excited to coach the Hidenwood Tarpons for a fifth summer. During the school year, I am a librarian at Hidenwood Elementary and just finished my 25th year in education. I have completed both Level 1 and Level 2 courses: “Principles of Success” and “The Strokes” offered by the American Swimming Coaches Association. My goals for this summer are for swimmers to have fun, develop their strokes, and enjoy being a member of the Tarpon Swim team. I want all Tarpon swimmers to feel welcomed and to share each other’s success.
Hi, I’m Orion Blazey, the Assistant Coach this summer! I swam competitively for 13 years. I have prior coaching experience with this being my third year as the Assistant Coach for Hidenwood and being a coach for the Cruisers Swim Club at Riverside this past year. I enjoy other things such as music, being outside, and hanging out with my family! I’ve also been the manager at Hidenwood for 2 years and have been a lifeguard for 6 years. I can’t wait to start this summer as one of the coaches, and I hope to have a great season!
I just graduated from the College of William & Mary as a music major. Previously, I swam for the Hidenwood Tarpons for 9 years and the Victory YMCA during my senior year of high school. I have a lot of experience working with kids, whether it be teaching piano lessons, volunteering in my local AWANA program, or at church. I am very excited to work with the Hidenwood Tarpons swim team and can’t wait to share my love for swimming with the kids.
